April/May 2010
Hello Everyone. Happy (just about) May. I cannot believe how fast time has gone here. In this month's newsletter we're going to take a break from tradition and instead only cover 2 things: 1) a great way to help out LOGAN Hope with about 2 minutes of your time online from your desk, and 2) share some great pictures of our great students. I'll also mention one cool thing at the end to keep you reading...
Here's how to help us out!!! See this picture?! This is our summer day camp program from last summer July 2009. See what everyone's standing on? That's right, dirt. This is the area we lovingly refer to as "The Dust Bowl" or "The Mud Pit" depending on the weather. Our side yard is in DIRE need of some TLC. We've got a side yard surface-refinishing project in the works for June and YOU can actually help us get a playground! All you have to do is go to www.kaboom.org , search LOGAN Hope, sign up to be a member (only takes an email address), and "join our project". That's it. I just did it today myself and it honestly took me 2 minutes. See the tutorial below for some visual instruction. This website is also geared towards building awareness about our project and getting some local volunteers to help us complete it on the "build day". If you are local and are interested in volunteering for a day or two (or have a group who wants to help us do a different sort of project, just hit reply and let me know!) Tutorial:
1) go to www.kaboom.org and search "logan hope" in the search box at the top right of the screen.
2) click on the LOGAN Hope project shown, and then when the page below shows up, click on "sign up with kaboom" which appears in the orange box at the top right of your screen. After entering in your info you can re-search LOGAN Hope and click "join this project". You are now supporting us in a very real way! Thanks to all of you that can and will do this for us :-)

Here are some more great pics of LOGAN Hope students as taken by our volunteer photographer, Caroline. She did fantastic work and I think these pics show a lot about what goes on every day here...
Creative uses of class time:
Where can a kid go to get some peace and quiet???!!:
The Usual Kindergarten Craziness:
Hope you enjoyed those great pictures. And now's the time for me to mention the "cool thing" as promised above. So here's the news: LOGAN Hope is going to be featured in a summer issue of PRISM Magazine! There will be a 5 page article with lots of great pictures about our school!! We're so excited and will share more details as we get them.
Thanks for sticking with us
