September 2010

From Kindergartners to 8th graders, students are happy to be back at LOGAN Hope School
LOGAN Hope School opened its doors to 60 smiling faces on August 31. We know this is going to be a great year and have some exciting things planned. We will be continuing our economic literacy program, going on some great class trips, hosting special speakers, and exploring the world together.
Summer Camp was a Blast (off)
Space Camp 2010 was another great time at LOGAN Hope.
Even though the summer heat wave continued to pound the Philadelphia area, our camp was cool! Games, field trips, arts & crafts, Bible lessons, swimming- what more could a kid want? And considering the alternative for many of our campers was sitting at home or roaming the neighborhood, LOGAN Hope Day Camp meets a real need in our community. A special thanks to the many people who came to help at our day camp this summer, we couldn't have done it without you!
Painting a mural on LOGAN Hope's wall AND a Watermelon-eating contest, no hands allowed!
Future Site of LOGAN Hope School: 1302 W. Ruscomb Street
The Ruscomb building interior demolition progressed through the summer. We had several teams come to help us clean out the vacant building and take down some interior walls. The old wiring will need to be updated to code so gutting the building is a great first step. We're so thankful for the Community Design Collaborative and the interior and exterior plans they designed specially for our building! We hope to begin working on construction soon. Got any construction skills and some time (or maybe just some time and no skills)?? We could sure use your help!
THANKS to all of our supporters!
LOGAN Hope wouldn't exist without the continued support of people like you. If you love LOGAN Hope won't you consider making a donation to help us provide quality affordable education to the children of inner-city Philadelphia?
